Training /  Solo - Developing a shorter & quicker swing

    • Description:

In this exercise, you're hitting straight drives back to yourself that bounce before the line. As you get more comfortable, increase the speed of your hitting so as to force yourself to have to react quicker with a shorter, snappier swing

    • Exercise Notes:Take a couple of minutes to warm up the ball, then work through this exercise for 3mins on each side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:10:00

    • Description:

In this exercise you'll stand on the short line and try to hit continuous short drives back to yourself, aiming each time to work with a short swing and to take the shot on the rise as Paul Coll demonstrates in the video

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 4mins on each side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:8:00

    • Description:

Shots must alternate between FH and BH and hit front wall to side wall, side wall to front wall. Focus more on keeping a high pace, as opposed to how many you can do in a row - if you're working fast, it will naturally breakdown frequently

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 3mins in one front corner of the court, and then change to the opposite front corner for a further 3mins

    • Minutes on exercise:6:00

    • Description:

In this exercise, you're hitting straight volleys back to yourself from in front of the service box. Start slowly, and gradually speed up the pace of your hitting to force yourself to adapt with the shorter, quicker swing

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 3mins on each side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:6:00
