Training /  Threes - Developing your boasts (45 mins)

    • Description:

      One player is in the front of the court driving from both sides and there are two players boasting from the back. 

    • Exercise Notes:3 minutes at the front driving per person. Try to vary the types of boasts you try to play, considering both the drivers position and quality of shot.

    • Description:

      This routine is rotating drives where any player can play a boast at any time, where the next player then has to hit a straight drive to continue the rally. 

    • Exercise Notes:6 minutes in total. It is a good idea to think about when you can attack using the boast during this exercise.

    • Description:

      This routine is rotating drives where any player can play a boast at any time, where the next player then can hit a straight drop or a drive to continue the rally. 

    • Exercise Notes:10 minutes in total. This exercise develops awareness of when it might not be good to play the boast as a good counter drop can be punishing.

    • Description:

      This routine is rotating drives where any player can play a volley boast at any time. The next player then can hit a straight drop or a drive to continue the rally. 

    • Exercise Notes:10 minutes in total. This exercise aims to force you to take the ball as early as possible on the volley to take time away from your opponent

    • Minutes on exercise:10:00

    • Description:Conditioned game where you play only deep in the court, meaning the first bounce of the ball is behind the mid court line on the floor. You are allowed to boast short but not twice in a row! 4 minutes

    • Exercise Notes:Play to 11. Focus on using the boast to attack an opponent's weak length and then try to step up the court and be ready to volley their return.
