Training /  Solo - Improving your backhand return of serve (25mins)

    • Description:

      In this exercise, the player is hitting straight volleys back themselves. Work to get the racket head open and the strings underneath the ball to produce the necessary lift, keeping the wrist relatively firm/stable throughout

    • Exercise Notes:Work on the backhand side for 5mins, starting closer to the front wall if necessary

    • Description:

      In this exercise, the player is hitting straight volleys to themselves whilst walking up and down the court. Maintain a side on position, with the swing growing slightly the further away from the front wall you go.

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 10mins on the BH side, working slowly from the front wall to the walk back wall while keeping the ball under control. If you reach the back wall, start to walk forwards again and keep repeating

    • Description:

      In this exercise the player is combining figure 8 volleys with middle volleys. Try and keep the ball above or at shoulder height the whole time, focusing on control and adapting to deal with balls of different speeds/angles, moving as necessary

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 10mins on the drill, going from the figure of 8 shot immediately into 2 volleys down the middle onto the forehand and then backhand side (as shown in Jesse's BH serve return playlist)
