Training /  Solo - Improve your volley ball control 1 (40mins)

    • Description:

      Use this drill as a warm up for your rhythm and feel as is a fun and attacking volley shot. Do 30 shots each on the forehand and backhand side seeing if you can hit plenty of nicks

    • Exercise Notes:You will be starting and finishing with this exercise as is a great benchmark for confidence on the volley

    • Description:

      Start with a slow paced shot and build up your speed and hitting once you have control. Focus on ball control and keeping the racket head moving very consistently during the whole drill

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 2.5mins on both sides of the court

    • Description:

      Progressing from the last drill, but keeping ball control as the main aspect, see how many consecutive volleys in a row you can now do from being positioned behind the back of the service box

    • Description:

      Linking in both previous drills, now we add in a slight bit of movement to this drill by walking up and down the court whilst trying to keep the ball alive and on the volley the whole time. Start slow and build up the pace

    • Description:

      One of the all time classic ball control drills. You should become very used to this exercise to get good ball control on the volley. Now the challenge is to deal with balls coming at slightly different angles and paces

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 100 shots or a maximum of 2.5mins

    • Description:

      Similar to the figure of 8 drill but with less angles. A high ball control exercise that is wise to start with slow and then build up the pace and intensity. This exercise is deceptively tough

    • Description:

      This drill is great for quick hands and being able to transition from side to side whilst still keeping high levels of ball control. Start off slow and eventually try and build to a very rapid pace. Good for the wrist strength also

      Now that you are becoming well drilled in the volleys you can now start to express yourself with taking in some short and attacking shots whilst doing the figure of 8 drill. Feel free to experiment in different ways to attack the ball

      One of the hardest ball control exercises and one to really enjoy the challenge of doing. When you can control this exercise well you know you will have some seriously good volley ball control.

      Now that you have completed all the above volley skills and drills, redo this exercise again now to hopefully feel even more confidence with the volley hitting it into the nick. Do 30 each on the forehand and backhand side
