Training /  Pairs - Forehand Back Corner Practise Session (40mins)

    • Description:

Both players hit to the FH corner continuously, with every shot above the service line. Focus on flow of movement in & out of the shot, working on your timing & rhythm. See Jesse Engelbrecht's blog/playlist for further guidance

    • Exercise Notes:Hit rotating drives down the backhand side with your partner for 5mins

    • Minutes on exercise:5:00

    • Description:

As for the previous rotating drive exercise, but now player A must still hit only above the service line, but player B can also incorporate harder, lower drives. Work for 4mins, and then switch positions

    • Exercise Notes:Hit rotating drives down the forehand side with your partner for 4mins following the parameters in the session description, and then switch positions

    • Minutes on exercise:8:00

    • Description:

Routine where the order of shots is deep (behind the service line), deep again, and then short (in front of the line). This pattern then repeats continuously, with everything played on the FH side. Experiment with variations of height & pace

    • Exercise Notes:Work the routine as a standard practice for 5mins, then go into a game scored to 11 following the same sequence

    • Minutes on exercise:10:00

    • Description:

This routine is a progression from rotating drives where one player now has the boast option. The opponent then has to play a crosscourt drive back to the FH, forcing the boaster to have to adapt and deal with straightening the ball out

    • Exercise Notes:Work the routine down the forehand side with your partner for 4mins following the parameters in the session description, and then switch positions. Finish with a game to 11 following the same routine, with the serve receiver having the boast option

    • Minutes on exercise:15:00
