Training /  Pairs - Length Hitting Tactics with Shaun Moxham (45mins)

    • Description:

      A great foundation drill for both players to look to explore the DEEP length. Players are encouraged to slightly overhit their length to begin to guarantee the ball reaching the back wall

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 2.5mins on each side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:5:00

    • Description:

      The focus for the player at the front is to vary their length between the DEEP and DYING length. The front player can really explore different ways to hit the ball to achieve the end outcome of length

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 2.5mins in each position then swap. Swap sides once one side is completed

    • Minutes on exercise:10:00

    • Description:

      Both players can now explore ALL 3 different types of lengths that Shaun has mentioned in this drill. Start off simple and then add complexity and variation as confidence builds 

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 5mins on each side of the court

    • Description:

      Now we add in an angle with the cross court. Players can focus on getting the ball past their opponent on this shot alongside pushing up high on the T to look for the volley when appropriate

    • Exercise Notes:Do for 5mins and then swap the side from where the cross court has been played from

    • Minutes on exercise:10:00

    • Description:

      In this final drill, both players can really explore ALL 3 types of length in a little more open context. Start off a little more conservative and then look to build in variation when confidence has grown
