Training /  Pre-Match Pairs 'Grooving' Session (25mins)

A good short & sharp pairs feeding session, ideal to use as prep for a match if you have a partner to help. Go through the session either earlier in the day, or immediately before you play if you're able to make it to the venue with a little time to spare

    • Description:

      Start with some basic drives from the mid court area off of a simple feed from the back to get yourself going, focusing on rhythm and timing in your hitting

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins on the FH, and then 2mins on the BH side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00

    • Description:

      Continue with standard straight drives as in the first exercise, but this time cutting in a straight drop every 4th/5th shot. The feeder should be looking to vary height/pace of the feed a little more here, to encourage a bit of light movement

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins on the FH, and then 2mins on the BH

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00

    • Description:

      Open out into boast and drive, with the player at the front hitting drives into the back corners whilst putting in the occasional drop to themselves. Upon switching, player now has the option of boasting or hitting occasional drive to themselves

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins driving, then 2mins boasting

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00

    • Description:

      Work here on punching the volleys through to the back, focusing again on the rhythm and timing of your shots. Feeder should aim to add in some variation of height and pace

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins on the FH, and then 2mins on the BH

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00

    • Description:

      Continue with the straight volleys as in the previous exercise, but this time cutting in the straight volley drop every 4th/5th shot. Feeder should continue to vary height/pace of feeds, to encourage taking the ball in from different positions

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins on the FH, and then 2mins on the BH

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00

    • Description:

      Finish by taking some balls into the front corners - feeds should vary in height/pace/width, with the player looking to really open the racket and cut the ball in with confidence and conviction

    • Exercise Notes:Work for 2mins on each side of the court

    • Minutes on exercise:4:00
